Affording Therapy
Therapy is a commitment and can be an added expense to your budget, but think of it as an investment in yourself and wellbeing.
There are several ways to make this investment in yourself. Some people choose to use their health insurance, which can offer a cost-sharing option with your health insurance provider. All health insurances are different and have different plans, so it varies on how much of your therapy visits are covered. With some plans, you are only responsible for a copayment per visit, while other plans you are responsible for the full allowable session fee until your deductible is met, at which time your insurer will begin covering a percentage of your sessions. Keep in mind that in order to file with your insurance, you do have to meet criteria for a mental health diagnosis. I am happy to discuss this in more detail with you in person. If you would like to learn more about your particular insurance coverage, you can contact the phone number on the back of your card and inquire about your benefits for an outpatient mental health office visit.
A second option is using my Self-Pay Sliding Scale. Depending on your family income, you will be responsible for a percentage of the full session fee. This option may be beneficial to someone without health insurance, someone with a high deductible plan, or if there is discomfort with having a mental health diagnosis on your health record.
